A Stocked Impoundment Permit (annual $35 per family & weekly $7) is required to fish Lake Tinaroo. Mangrove Jack, Sooty Grunter, Archerfish, Sleepy Cod and Redclaw Crayfish are also caught in the lake. The competition is fished from Friday 5.30 pm to Sunday 11.30 am with presentations from 12 noon. The Hotshots Big Band draws it's players from Cairns and all Tableland centres. With up to 20 players in the band it is most likely the only non-military, non-television, working big band in the country.
The band provides music for balls and dances; they play for events such as the 'Grey Nomad" gathering, and have performed at sell-out concerts at Brothers Leagues Club in Cairns. In most cases, the expectation is that next year's booking will come from each job they do.
With the same instrumentation as the big bands of the War era the music played covers many styles. Female and male vocals are also a part of the standard repertoire.

"Songbirds" is the brainchild of the girls themselves. They have been friends for some time and through the years have also guested on each others live shows and recordings, so it seemed to be a natural step for them put together a concept where they could share the stage along with some of their individual songs. Beccy, Gina and Sara are of course three of Australia's most acclaimed and successful country music singers. Between them they have 24 Golden Guitar Awards along with a haul of ARIAs, Entertainer of the Year, APRAs and certified Gold and Platinum sales
awards.

Since bursting onto the Australian Music scene just seven years ago with her critically acclaimed album, Chasing Buffalo, Sara has gone onto become one of the most awarded artists in Australian country music history. In 2004 she took out 7 Golden Guitars for her now platinum selling album, Beautiful Circle. She now has 9 Golden Guitars in her collection. In 2005 Sara released her third album, Firefly and toured Australia with legendary Paul Kelly. Recently Sara has been writing for her highly anticipated 4th album which was released in the second half of 2007.

For the past twelve months The Doyle Family Fun Show has entertained local and visiting families every Saturday night at the popular northern beaches restaurant at Paradise Palms Country Club. Over the past 5 years Cairns District Guides have been working hard to update and make safe our hut through grant applications, sausage sizzles and tea and coffee stalls. This year for something different we have decided to hold a Christmas Fair with plant stall, cake stall, cent sale and side-show alley.
This is the world of the Sweet, the kings of the seventies with the slashing guitars, rebel yell lyrics, feverishly high pitched vocals and harmonies, double time drumming spectacular image, outrageous glam costumes, phenomenal live shows and 4 brilliant musicians. That was The Sweet. The most talented and most underrated rock band from that era.
The Sweet epitomized the UK 70's glam rock movement with their trademark glitter and glam makeup. The Sweet was also a force to be reckoned with in pure rock music terms too. The hits stand the test of time and the current line up with original guitarist Andy Scott still keep the audiences shouting for more!
Little did anyone realize back in 1978 that The Radiators would still be together, still hugely popular and still producing quality music with no signs of slowing down.
Travelling thousands upon thousands of kilometers up, down and across the length and breadth of this vast country, The Radiators have carved a niche in the annals of Aussie Rock history. They have headlined and shared the stage with other great Aussie acts such as AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Dragon and INXS. 2004 saw the release of The Radiators' 25th Anniversary Album, a compilation of their most popular singles. While this Album sold well and had chart success, the boys were keen to try something new.
In 2008 their controversial single "Gimme Head" was re-recorded and remixed by The Cut in Sydney, and picked up by Melbourne Recording Company, Vicious. The single debuted at No. 25 on the ARIA Club Charts, quickly climbing to No. 9 in the first 5 days. The new "Gimme Head" was snapped up by Australian Fashion Week and featured on their television advertisements shown on Channel 10.
Despite the rigors of touring and the passing of years the spark and energy of The Radiators has not diminished. They continue to do what they do best - tour extensively, play an average of 150 times per year and delight the legions of fans both young and old who still flock to grab a slice of living Aussie Rock history, rocking the night away to the great catchy songs and classic hits that have made The Radiators a household name in Australia.
Not bad for four boys from humble beginnings with big dreams and one wonders what this powerhouse band is capable of producing next.

Motorcycling Queensland (MQ), affiliated with the national body of Motorcycling Australia, is the controlling body for motorcycling sport and recreation in Queensland. MQ currently has in excess of 7,000 licence holders, over 300 venues and nearly 100 affiliated clubs.
Established in 1924, MQ issues competitive and recreational licences which allow riders to compete or participate in recreational motorcycling events. MQ also has almost 100 affiliated clubs and provides permits to these clubs to conduct events.

The Age Of Stupid' is the new documentary-drama-animation hybrid from Director Franny Armstrong (McLibel, Drowned Out) and Oscar-winning Producer John Battsek (One Day In September, Live Forever, In the Shadow of the Moon).
Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite (In The Name of the Father, Brassed Off, The Usual Suspects) stars as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055. He watches 'archive' footage from 2008 and asks: Why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance? Runaway climate change has ravaged the planet by 2055. Pete plays the founder of The Global Archive, a storage facility located in the (now melted) Arctic, preserving all of humanity's achievements in the hope that the planet might one day be habitable again. Or that intelligent life may arrive and make use of all that we've achieved.
He pulls together clips of "archive" news and documentary from 1950-2008 to build a message showing what went wrong and why. He focuses on six human stories.
