The Cool Change Tour featuring Glenn Shorrock, Wendy Matthews and Doug Parkinson - has recently played to packed out audiences, receiving standing ovations in South East Queensland. This amazing concert experience is now on its way to Far North Queensland in March 2010.
Glenn Shorrock is best known as the original voice of the Little River Band and still enthrals audiences around the world with his extensive repertoire and international hits. Wendy Matthews has an enviable reputation as an artist par excellence with a sublime, expressive voice that always moves those who hear it. Doug Parkinson has been regarded as one of Australian's finest vocalists, a "singer's singer" who is one of the truly great soul/R&B vocalists of our time.
In March 2010 these three legends of Australian music, accompanied by their Rock Orchestra, are taking to the road for a whirlwind tour of South East Queensland. Together they invite you to join them on a magical journey, reliving their collective catalogue of hits such as "Help", "Lonesome Loser", "A Little Ray Of Sunshine" and "Reminiscing" from Glenn; the unforgettable "Dear Prudence" from Doug, and Wendy's "I Don't Want To Be With Anyone But You", and "The Day You Went Away".
In announcing the Cool Change Tour Shorrock said, "I'm thrilled to be heading up to Queensland and am particularly excited about the opportunity to put all of my years of performing together into this one concert. And it's not just the songs; the evening will also be full of stories and anecdotes. When Matthews, Parkinson and I hit the stage the script goes out the window and the music takes over so there are sure to be lots of laughter and surprises."
When these three Aussie music icons, who set the standard for today's singers, come together for a live concert, audiences know they are in for a memorable night of music.

Tanks Arts Centre is proud to present the 10th annual, Women In Song, featuring ARIA winner, Clare Bowditch an artist of rare vision and talent, who has asked special guests, folk/pop singer Jess McAvoy and a capella trio, Aluka, to join her. Held as a celebration to mark International Women’s Day (the major day of global recognition for the economic, political and social achievements of women), this long standing, signature event has always been our opportunity to showcase the talents of local and national female singer/songwriters. This time round we’ve upped the ante, so as well as our asking our guest artist to invite along some friends, we’ve also asked local singer/ songwriters such as Carinda Christie, to perform as a one-off, female collective for this very special 10th birthday event.

In conjuction with the fantastic crew at Cairns#1 bar, myself and a mob of friends will be dyeing my hair blue, along with anyone else who wants to shave or colour their hair with me, to raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. Why blue? I have the unfortunate nickname of Bart Simpson's dorky best friend, who has blue hair.
Along with Salt House's team, this will be a huge evening and we want everyone to open their hearts and help the Leukaemia Foundation fund free services to support patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders. It also funds blood cancer research to find better treatment and cures.
We look forward to seeing everybody there for a great night dedicated to a great and worthy cause.
Cheers!

A madcap Macbeth! Comedy in tights! You’ll be in stitches!
Barnaby Johns and his avant-garde theatre collective steps into the breach when the London Shakespeare Company fails to arrive on the opening night of their hit touring production of Macbeth.
Barnaby’s got problems. First, his Macbeth goes missing, then his next choice for leading man wants to leave the collective, one of his stalwarts wants to play every role (and Richard III), then his leading lady only wants to play one role... and then he has to face the stage manager of the original production to convince her that his Aussie version of the play is worth it. And if that’s not enough, then he has to step on stage. God forbid!
Against a faithful re-telling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, JUTE creates a modern masterpiece of ambition, inevitability and the acceptance of fate, undermined by comedy, clowns and chaos.
Show times are 6.30PM Tuesdays and Wednesday, 8.00PM Thursday - Saturday. There are no shows Mondays and Sundays.

The last 3 years have been a whirlwind for brother and sister duo, Angus & Julia Stone. Their debut album 'A Book Like This' released in 2007 glided easily in to the hearts of Australians. It debuted top 10 on the national ARIA album chart and maintained a spot in the top 100 for over a year. In 2008 it earned Angus and Julia 6 ARIA award nominations and reached platinum sales status.
The new single 'And The Boys' has been enjoying high rotation on Triple J, is released today and comes with two bonus tracks 'Change' and 'Take You Away' when purchased through the iTunes store. The track was co-produced by Angus & Julia with Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright) and is the first taste of new material from their forthcoming sophomore album 'Down The Way'. The lyrics inspire joy gained from lost love and it takes you from darkness to light with it driving drum beat, beautiful touches of melatron and moog behind the acoustic guitars and dancing piano and bass. The song really highlights the power of the beauty that can be found in even the hardest of times.

A world music supergroup, Djan Djan is the name of a collaboration between Malian kora master, Mamadou Diabate, tabla savant Bobby Singh, and blues guitarist-singer-songwriter Jeff Lang.
When they met in 2008, no one could predict the musical alchemy that would occur; and the result of that spontaneous day of recording is an album of astonishingly beautiful pieces, to be performed lives for us by 3 true masters of their craft.
He was the voice of a generation…. Hear the unforgettable songs. Share the emotion of his amazing story.
One in two households in Australia had a Cat Stevens album in the seventies. Maybe you were one of them, and if you are, here is an opportunity to live and enjoy Cat's amazing music. London born Paul Dillon has had a lifelong love affair with the music and poetic lyrics of the fabulous songwriter. He played in many of the same venues in London's West End in which Cat began his extraordinary success story.
Paul Dillon, accompanied by his band, The Tillermen, will present the Wild World - The Cat Stevens story and twenty-two of Cat's greatest songs including Moonshadow, Peace Train, Where Do the Children Play, So Very Young, Morning Has Broken, Matthew and Son and many more.
Paul's resemblance to Cat Stevens, both physically and vocally, is uncanny, and the stories he tells of Cat's progression from a teenager to his current lifestyle and change of name are worth hearing.
But, as one critic said, "… it is the music that enthrals you for almost two hours. It seemed like ten minutes to me!"

Best known for her heavily R&B influenced singles "Don't Walk Away" and "Stop Your Fussin", Toni Childs hit the big time in 1988 when her critically acclaimed debut album "Union" went Double Platinum in Australia. The same year she was nominated for three Grammy's, including Best New Artist. Her second album, "House of Hope" went three times platinum and in 1997, the release of "Many Rivers to Cross" caused her Greatest Hits album to top even that.
Her latest release, "Keep The Faith", is an emotionally hard-hitting album with a blend of roots, rock, folk and gospel songs. For those luck enough to catch Toni Childs when she supported the Jackson Brown tour earlier this year, her warm and engaging show is already well known. If you missed out that evening, then here's your chance to find out what all the fuss was about, when she returns to Cairns on her solo tour, performing two intimate shows at Tanks Arts Centre.
