Shane Morris’ artworks comprise of old boxes and salvaged wooden boards – used to make small religious icons of her owndevising. The works are about a search fora spiritual life in a place where there are no ancient religious edifices. Instead, the land itself has been made sacred – each place has its spiritual story.
“What I make is to do with my response to the Australian landscape. I like tactile materials, and experimenting with different surfaces. History and the life of the spirit are interwoven with the landscape, and can be observed on the fragile surface orskin of the earth. I have seen and photographed ancient Aboriginal middens and rock art, Afghan graves, and the evidence of exotic native fauna. It gives me a sense of wonder, to see fragments of rich stories of history and nature imprinted on sand and earth.”
Shane Morris has completed an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art and has been commissioned for several Public Art projects.

The POMMIE NIGHT OUT SHOW was recently filmed by a television crew for a new programme to be screened in 2008, and has just won the award for "BEST GOLD COAST ENTERTAINMENT SHOW".
Wherever the show has appeared, it has been re-booked, and the feedback from clients, bookers and audiences alike has been overwhelming. There is no other show like this! Many of the audiences spend their time with hankies in their hands, to wipe away their tears - from the laughter, and the memories.
The show features lots of British humour and sing-a-long songs such as "When you're smiling", Hello who's your lady friend?" "If you were the only girl in the world" and "You are my sunshine", and will bring back memories for all of the audience. As the audience arrives, they are greeted by our LONDON BOBBY, our ARMY GIRL, and NURSEY - watch where she puts her BIG thermometer!!!
THE PEARLY KING and QUEEN, sing old London favourites, DAD'S ARMY sing war songs, FLANAGAN and ALLEN, AL JOLSON and many other characters make appearances throughout the show, and a great time is assured. The show is a great "fun" show. It is fully professional and choreographed, with wonderful costumes.
Doors open at 11.30am, lunch is served at 12pm and the show commences at 1pm. Strictly 15+.

New York's 28th Street, the famous 'Tin Pan Alley', was the birthplace of many of the world's most beloved songs. This original show shares the stories behind the composers behind the music, putting the composers' lives and times into context with their music.
`Roadshow performances may contain coarse language, sexual references and material that can offend. It is not recommended for children under the age of 15.
Bolstered by roars of laughter and unbridled adoration of audiences during their Melbourne season, a bunch of international and local comedians will be cramming healthy egos into tiny suitcases and hitting the highways of this mighty continent.
Last year, the Roadshow consisted of approximately 40 of the Festival's finest comedians, who played a total of 103 performances to 52,137 people (to be exact). Confronted by a ticker-tape parade (almost) of fans at every regional pitstop they visited, the 2010 Roadshow is set to overdrive for its 12th year, covering more mileage than ever before - from the North to the South to the East to the West - and even setting sail across to Singapore.
At every point of the journey, the Comedy Festival Roadshow leaves smiling faces and tickled ribs in its wake. Don't you miss out on the circus when it comes to your town.

They must unravel the mysterious final moments of Cindy's sad, starved life as the worlds most popular ubermodel. But who killedCindy? Who had the motive to take an innocent girls life?.
Was it her modelling agent, Alexis Colby-Cheese, of The Say Cheese Modelling Agency. Rumour has it Cindy was tired of being the most beautiful woman in the world and was going to quit. To live out the rest of her life as a security guard in Fiji. Did rage get the best of her?
Or was it Cindy's lover, flamboyant english pop sensation, Michael George. Although they were due to get married in a few weeks. Michael had been acting queer lately. They had both been snapped by local papparazzo, Justin Thyme, having a heated discussion. After which Cindy left crying. Was Michael to blame for Cindys grim demise?
Or perhaps it was Cindys rival, Janome Campbell. Everyone knows Janome had been vying for the crown of supermodel of the world for years now. Was murder the only way for Janome to be queen?
And lets not forget french fashion designer Jean Claude Petit-Miam of the Little Yum Fashion House. Cindy had been booked to model Jean Claudes latest masterpiece but had pulled out. Sending Jean Claude into a seisure of sequins and stillettos. He had been heard saying that he would strangle her skinny, well proportioned neck!!!! Did he
kill Cindy?

SAVIDAS are performing at the Carnivale Club Sunset Session before the Street Parade kicks off on Friday, and also at entertainment zones all along Macrossan Street between 8.30 pm and midnight.
The music of Savidas is a seamless wave of acoustic rootsy grooves, haunting melodies, and deep vocals that pose the question within the answer. Having been described as Michael Franti meets John Butler, a touch of White Stipes and sprinkled with the ironic truth of Leonard Cohen. Crossing the divide between acoustic roots, funk and hip hop. The SAVIDAS duo – Gumpy Gumpsavidas and Uma Vernau (AKA Umalicious) hail from the deep dark underbelly of The St Kilda music syndicate.
SAVIDAS cut their teeth playing at some the most infamous music venues throughout Melbourne.— It wasn’t long before SAVIDAS were funk’n strum’n and hum’n their unmistakable sound across some of the some of the biggest festivals in Australia. Such as Falls Festival, Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, The Push Over –(w/Silver Chair), Earthdance just to name a few. Proving that their music can stylistically bridge any gap.

Radio Port Douglas, Events NQ and Carnivale proudly presents the Douglas Rock N Blues Bonanza.
The Tropical North’s favourite blues musicians will take the stage during the inaugural Carnivale Rock ‘n’ Blues Bonanza on Sunday 23rd May at Rex Smeal Park, with organisers confirming Johno’s Blues Band (entire line up) Jesse Deane-Freeman, plus The Flying Libido Brothers (formerly Black Label) and Australia’s foremost festival duo Wizard & Oz (Andrew Farrell & David McMillan) will all appear.
Band Bio: Emerging on New Years Eve 2008 with their first single ‘Party Boy’ at their first ever gig, Kan’d Peaches have gone on to perform at various music events and festivals and have even had their music video played on Channel TEN. Within the first year they had won both the Mossman and Cairns Under 18 Highschool Battle of the Bands with their original songs, gaining radio play and going on to perform infront of over 3000 people at the Footprints Music Festivals ‘Sunset in the Park’ and ‘The Great Aussie Arvo’ held in Port Douglas.
2009 saw Kan’d Peaches develop their trademark style of Indie Rock with their original songs as they received 3rd place in the Cairns Heat of the Global Battle of the Bands with Denny Burgess (Masters & Aprentices) and 2nd in the Livewire Songwriters comp. They then went on to impress hundreds of spectators at Gilligans Nightclub as they battled it out in hope of a spot in the Cairns TimeOut Concert (feat. Hilltop Hoods,Grinspoon and The Fumes), but being all Under 18 they had to leave as soon as they had finished their set. A large milestone was recording their Demo EP, produced by mentor and friend Danny Ross. The four track CD features their most popular song “Take the Bus Back” which is accompanied by a Music Video that has been played on Southern Cross TEN’s Landed Music.
After welcoming new comer Joel Mather (Lead Guitar) and supporting popular Brisbane band ‘YVES KLEIN BLUE’ at the TANKS Art Centre in Cairns, Kan’d Peaches are now writing new material and preparing for future demo recording.

Stuart Blackwell’s outstanding achievements with St Hallett wines and commitment to the Barossa over the past 30 years was fully recognisedby his peers and the ‘Barons of the Barossa’who awarded him “2003 Barossa Winemaker of the Year.”
Stuart Blackwell’s winemaking career spans four decades. Having first dabbled with winemaking in Australia’s McLarenVale, Stuart was lured by the Barossa in 1973. During this early winemaking stint at St Hallett, together with Robert O’Callaghan, Stuart experimented with small barrel fermentation for reds and increased use of new oak for maturation. In the late seventies, Stuart was attracted to winemaking abroad in South Africa. At 27 years old, he was invited to build a new winery (Mukuyu) and develop its vineyards in Zimbabwe, not returning to Australia until 1982. As Senior Winemaker of St Hallett, Stuart has developed not onlya deep understanding of the rich tapestry of site and climatic variances in the Barossa but also an appreciation of the importance of both dedicated growers and ‘old vine’Shiraz. His commitment to the region over the past four decades has won the hearts of someof the Barossa’s most dedicated and passionate growers giving St Hallett access to the Barossa’s most prized ‘old vine’Shiraz vineyards dating back 60 to over 100 years of age. These strongly forged relationships have yielded exceptional quality fruit consequentially leading to benchmark Barossa wines of extraordinary acclaim, all endorsing Stuart’s sincere and long-term approach in the Barossa over the past four decades.A big believer in enjoyment and armed with a ‘can do’attitude, Stuart’s energy is contagious. Amongst the small winery crew he has imbues warmth, honesty and integrity which is simply the wayof life at St Hallettand embraces both experience and a constant sense of evolution. As Senior Winemaker for over 30 years and recognised by his peers in 2003 as ‘Barossa Winemaker of the Year’, Stuart embodies a wealth of experience. With a glint of enthusiasm ever in his eyes, Stuart engages all those around him in the enjoyment of wine, and whenever possible in a round or two of golf!

“Matt Kirsch has this ability to take a melody and deconstruct it until it is almost unrecognisable, apart from the occasional hint at the riff and then to bring it back together just in time for a loving full stop.
Kirsch prefers the laid back and late night sounds, hence the tile of the album “nightmusic”. He loves to slow down the melody, off beat and pre-emptive until he is taking only a note here and there, leaving you waiting eagerly for the next excursive return to the fond familiarity of the melody.
“Translucent is a fluid, at times languid, jazz improvised disc that works well for buffs of the genre. The songs flow within themselves and into each other. The moods are quietly inspiring, peaceful and have their own form of enchantment. The arrangement of the Beatles song “And I Love Her” recalls Jeff Beck, and the rest, all Kirsch’s compositions, well compliment the mood of their titles, such as Around Sunset, Translucent and After The Storm. Tres Caliente is a very catchy tune. Some nice piano byColin Hopkins and pedal steel by Ed Bates.”
-PETER DONALD, BEAT MAGAZINE
“The musicianship is excellent, the originality is high and the ambience is stunning. I would say this is jazz music at its best- great virtuosos, good songs and nice improvisation. This album’s sound stage is very open, well balanced and has a sharp clarity…Translucent is an excellent album showing some of our best talent at their absolute best.”
