Qlive and Regional Touring presents Australia’s very own rock legend JIMMY BARNES live in Cairns with a concert celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the classic Australian album Working Class Man. In the spirit of the title track Working Class Man which en-captures the earth and soul of regional Queensland, Jimmy will be joined on stage by very special guest, Queensland’s own adopted son, Shannon Noll for regional Queensland only
Marking 25 years since the release of his signature song, Jimmy Barnes will belt out his oz rock masterpieces spanning a total of 27 charting albums (14 with Cold Chisel and 13 solo). This includes a staggering nine ARIA #1’s giving Barnes the highest number of hit albums of any Australian artist.
The 1985 release of Working Class Man, that went on to sell over 500,000 copies in Australia alone, shaped Australia’s rock n roll scene - the front cover art of Barnes standing in a burning Sugarcane field became one of the most iconic images that is etched in to people’s minds. Having been the only artist to have been inducted in to the ARIA Hall Of Fame twice (1993 - Cold Chisel / 2005 – Solo), “Barnesy” has spent years developing the many and varied facets of his music; starting out with raw rock & roll and educating himself in soul music and country. Add to the mix a showcase of new tracks from his forthcoming album, it will make this one massive concert spectacular you simply will not want to miss!
Joining Jimmy as his special guest on this celebration tour, is none other than SHANNON NOLL. Shannon’s music career has hit the ground running since his five-times platinum selling debut album "That's What I'm Talking About" featuring the hits “Drive”, “What About Me” and “Learn To Fly”. His first ever live performance was in Capella Central Queensland in 2004 giving him his “adopted son” status. Shannon has re-written Australian chart history by becoming the first artist, male or female, domestic or international, to have achieved 10 consecutive top 10 singles on the ARIA charts. “It feels like home up here in Queensland,” says Shannon. “I love it – it’s gold”.

The Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) and Plankton Productions will be presenting Coral Sea Dreaming - Awaken in Cairns at the Tanks Art Centre in June. In addition to the actual screening there will also be a discussion regarding marine threats held by David Hannan and prominent marine experts.
Over 84 extraordinary minutes, Coral Sea Dreaming – Awaken enters into the very heart of life – and death – on a coral reef. It is a story that spans 500 million years and stars some of the most exotic and wondrous marine creatures on earth. Coral is the planets greatest natural architect, and coral reefs boast the highest biodiversity of any ecosystem.
Emmy Award-winning cinematographer David Hannan has filmed for 7 years to create this magnificent testimony to our extraordinary undersea world, set to an original score by Tania Rose. We meet thousands of reef inhabitants, from ancient turtles to feeding sharks, adorable pygmy seahorses and savage sea slugs, witness a manta ray ballet and courting octopus. Specialized state-of-the-art High Definition technology captures these lives with unprecedented intimacy, illustrating elaborate courtship displays, mating rituals, feeding frenzies, intense night-time predation, cannibalism and chemical warfare.
Many of the sequences have never been filmed before. Some may never be filmed again. Corals have survived 5 mass extinctions. But can they survive us?
Filmed over 2000 dives on three great coral reef ecosystems; The Great Barrier Reef, Ningaloo Reef, and Papua New Guinea, Coral Sea Dreaming - Awaken is a celebration of reefs now under threat of climate change and ocean acidification. There is much to be done to safe-guard these precious ecosystems for future generations. And very little time to do it.
David Hannan is renowned not only for his filmmaking, but also the conservation that is activated by his films. This is the driving force behind his work.

The report & reputation ACCA DACCA has built over these past 8 years is second to none, we are extremely proud of this show and ACCA/DACCA continues to convince the masses in Australia & the rest of the world that this show is the next best thing to the real deal.
AC/DC themselves Stated in a recent interview,
quote
"IF YOU CAN'T SEE AC/DC SEE ACCA/DACCA!"
Unquote
ACCA/DACCA was formed in Brisbane Australia in 2000 by Larry Attard [Bon/Brian.] Larry grew up with AC/DC and had a great deal of admiration for AC/DC. Larry's voice is uncannily similar to Bon's and he belts out the late great front man's material with ease. At one stage in the early 80's it was thought Angus and Malcolm were considering Larry for the job after being spotted at a Snake gig [Larry's originals band] in Sydney. Larry was also called into Alberts studios to meet with George Young and Harry Vander however for whatever reason it did not come to fruition. If you ask Larry he will tell you that forming such a band was the last thing on his mind however with persuasion from fellow muso's and promoters the decision was made, With amazing results!
James McEntyre [Angus] at 5'4" tall was almost born for this part with those distinctive knobby knees and repeat offender looks. In full uniform Jimmy rules the stage like the wayward schoolboy himself. Jim rips out Angus solo's note for note and would defy even the hardest of critics to find a difference.
The back line is phenomenal with Mick Bristow[Malcolm] stabilizing the foundations with that hard hitting, heavy guitar sound we all know is AC/DC. Bass playing is superbly done by Stavros Tsolakides [Cliff] and drumming is pounded out from Damon Syme [Phil Rudd] Together with 25,000 watts of sound and huge light show ACCA/DACCA looks, acts and most importantly sounds like AC DC.
ACCA/DACCA tours constantly not only throughout Australia but New Zealand, Indonesia and UK have now been conquered with rave reviews from local press.
The ACCA/DACCA show goes for a full earth shattering 2 hours 15 mins non stop where the punters are taken on a one way ride through such classics as Dirty Deeds, T.N.T, Highway to Hell, The Jack, Rosie, Let There Be Rock and a mountain of other AC/DC hits as well as some lesser known songs. Brian Johnson fans won't be disappointed as the ACCA/DACCA set also contains hits such as Thunderstruck, Shook Me All Night Long and a selection of other Brian Johnson classics, Larry can also pull these off with ease.
But the show doesn't end there! The boys support themselves with the newly reformed "SNAKE" this band is also world class playing all original material "SNAKE" are a raunchy old school meat n potato rock band. A brand new "SNAKE" cd is out now and is available at the gigs.
While attending a Jimmy Barnes performance @ Nambor RSL, Jimmy went out for his encore and he took our singer Larry Attard out to sing Goodbye Astrid with him. Quite a thrill for us and quite an endorsement from the man himself. Bottom line is this is not a show; it is an experience, something you owe yourself to see.
Queens Birthday Long weekend 12-14 June 2010 The Cooktown Discovery Festival is an annual event held in Cooktown, Far North Queensland, to celebrate the landing of Lt. James Cook at the Endeavour River in 1770 and his meeting with the local Guugu Yimithirr and Kuku Yalanji people.
For 50 years, the people of Cooktown have come together in June to celebrate this historic event by staging a fully costumed re-enactment of Cooks landing and his time spent in this tropical paradise with the local Bama (aboriginal people). Although the festival has been held for over 50 years, the 2010 festivities are set to redefine the Discovery Festival to create a balance between the indigenous arts, culture and history and those of the Europeans so as to truly reflect the diplomatic relationship between the two cultures both in 1770 and today.
The festival will feature a multitude of events including the Re-enactment performance with live musket firing, a Fancy Dress Grand Parade, a variety of musical entertainment, an 18th Century garden party, traditional corroboree, market stalls, kids activities, Banks Florilegium exhibition, a Campfire Yarn Willie Gordon (Guurrbi Tours) and friends, fireworks, as well as arts and crafts workshops and stalls and bush tucker feasts supplied by the local Bama community.
Come and experience first hand Cooktown’s unique historical significance showcasing 18th Century European and indigenous cultures…. as never seen before.

In the expanse of the Australian outdoor festival culture, Winter Solstice Lifestyle Gathering holds a special place in the hearts and minds of punters from not only Cairns, but from around the country and indeed the globe as well. The annual event, in its fourth year in 2009, was one of the region’s biggest and most creative festivals, attracting well over a hundred acts, performers, healers and artists over four days and three nights in the rugged beauty of the Atherton Tablelands. The thing about Winter Solstice is that it’s much more than a Far North Queensland event, instead being one of Australia’s premier alternative life style festivals with a strong focus on entertainment for all the ages and a holistic festival experience. Thousands of punters have been known to travel from interstate and overseas just to attend, proving it’s not only one of the region’s top music and arts events, but a global tourism drawcard as well. With a broad range of musical styles – from electronic music to live bands and solo acts – as well as roving performers, fire shows, healing areas, sustainability exhibitions and market stalls, Winter Solstice definitely deserves its spot as the winner of the Best Festival in the Cairns Post timeOUT Awards 2009.

Following over 2500 performances internationally, The Wizard of Oz Show arrives on a Queensland Tour of 22 venues these June/July school holidays. Kids can rap with the Tinman, roar like a Lion, wake up sleepy Shakey the Scarecrow and dance with Dorothy in this interactive, new version of the worlds best loved fairy tale.
Billed as one of Australia’s top children’s shows, this is no sit-down-and-watch affair – the kids are invited to get involved in these adventures down the Yellow Brick Road and can even come dressed as their favourite Oz characters. Live action is mixed with cartoons on screen, intelligent lighting and catchy tunes!
Honoured as a special invitee to the world’s largest Oz Festival in America, the show drew much praise from Oz 'royalty' present. Hollywood celebrity Robert Baum, great grandson of Oz author Frank Baum, said: 'If great grandfather was alive, I’m sure he would be clapping, singing along and smiling with your show!' !
As part of the "Body, Mind & Soul Market Day," I will be at The Tanks for book signing and book sales. Come and have a chat whether you have already bought the book or not. Find out about the next book "The Music of the Soul." This event is free for everyone, and is a great day at the gardens with the family.
The Body, Mind & Soul Market Day is an annual favourite, bringing local natural practitioners, therapists, spiritual and energy healers, health and new age suppliers together for a day of inspiration and information at Tanks Arts Centre.
Enjoy massage and new age healing, browse the stalls for speciality products including individually designed jewellery, crystals, meditation CD’s, books, cushions, clothes, locally made vegan skin care and items of a new interesting nature, plus all the regular art, craft and produce stalls. Great food, brunch or lunch is available all day. Please note: this market day is always popular, so if you can’t find a park on Collins Avenue, try Greenslopes Street and enjoy a beautiful, stress-free walk through Centenary Lakes to Tanks.
