Nicolette Worth’s exhibition is based around sneakers and urban culture. Each piece of artwork has been created in a different light, depending on the sneaker, as sneakers show many different characters. Some fun and exciting, some harder to read, but all colourful and happy.
Nicolette’s work is influenced by Australian and American hip-hop culture, graffiti and street art, Indigenous Australian art, Indian art, African art and the decorative era of the 1960s. Her art contains a lot of collage layering, different textures, as well as stencilling, scratching and drawing.
“Sneakers are my passion and my love, art is my talent, and so I enjoy joining these two passions together… I hope to give off a contemporary and different feel to my take on what sneaker art is and how it can be expressed.”
Nicolette has completed a Diploma in Visual Arts. In 2009, her sneaker art was exhibited in New York.

Pop Robot Theatre presents Falling Petals by Ben Ellis as a part of JUTE Theatre's Indie Season, 2010.
This production is produced by emerging practitioners studying the creative industries at JCU, Cairns. Come along and support local theatre practitioners.
‘Falling Petals’ is a darkly comic fable about the consequences of a culture of disposable youth. The rural township of Hollow has a problem. A mysterious epidemic that only affects the young has broken out and threatens to reach disastrous proportions. The school is closed, the town is quarantined and panic runs rife. Three school-leavers are caught in the disease-ridden town, unable to sit their final exams, trapped in a community with no future. Part sci-fi, part satire, this play by Ben Ellis blasts the urban/rural fissure wide open.

Jenai and Trent are having a Fijian Theme Night to raise the necessary funds required in order for them to participate in the Volunteer Eco Students Abroad program. Jenai and Trent were the only two students selected in Cairns to participate in this life changing experience. It requires two weeks in a Fijian Village teaching English to the Fijian locals, building school and housing facilities and also ensuring that the locals are equipped with fresh running water. The funds involved in partipating in the program are quite expensive and that's why we need Cairns locals to get behind us and come along for an awesome night!
Well seeing as it's a Fijian theme night the dress code is Fijian so make sure you dress up and come a long for an awesome night with best dressed prizes including a Pro Dive voucher worth $250 and also a Helicharters voucher for a lucky door prize.
TICKETS: $20 pre-ordered or $25 at the door.
Pre-ordered tickets must be ordered before the 10th of November.
This is an 18+ event so bring along your ID to ensure you are allowed in and most importantly so that you can have drinks.
Should be an awesome night with lots of entertainment.
Hope to see you all there :)

It took a musical adventure spanning four continents for Grinspoon to find the key to shaking up the Australian rock scene. Firstly, bassist Joe Hansen made his way to Canada and set himself on a path to brutal speed metal utopia. Guitarist Pat Davern ventured to Amsterdam and Spain in search of some elusive monstrous riffs. Frontman Phil Jamieson found his calling in Singapore, collaborating with a friend on glorious dream pop tunes. Meanwhile, drummer Kristian Hopes found a world of inspiration at home in Brisbane with his new baby son.
Their epic quest to find rock’s holy grail eventually led them home to make the best album of their 14-year career, cementing their position at the helm of the local rock scene. The band’s history speaks for itself.
Their sixth album, Six To Midnight, only reinforces their status as the premier rock act in the country. Drawing from around 45 songs penned individually and in sessions at Port Macquarie and Myocum on the NSW North Coast, Grinspoon convened to Studios 301 in Byron Bay with acclaimed US producer Rick Will (Incubus, No Doubt, Gillian Welch, Skindred). Conscious of not slipping into old habits, the band recorded together, live, for the first time in a decade. The result is a tight, frenetic and tense rock album, brimming with energy and buoyant enthusiasm.
From Canada to Spain, Amsterdam and Singapore, Six To Midnight now finds a home in Australia on Grinspoon’s new imprint, Chk Chk Boom records. It’s an exciting new era for a band whose endurance is as much to do with their immense talent as their sheer determination.
