Shape of the Day reflects the diversity of environmental life in beautiful Tropical North Queensland, in all of its seasons and moods: From rainforest to savannah, from pea-soup bushlands, urban landscapes to the sea, fair weather and foul.
Every picture paints a story – or in this exhibition, every story paints a picture.
During the 1970s, Mick Hodgkins was active in the Cairns art scene. Since then, he has concentrated on music he released four albums of original songs with his band Mangrove Jack, and toured both nationally and internationally. In 2010 Mick exhibited his paintings in Watershed a solo exhibition at Tanks Arts Centre.

Effervescence: to give off bubbles is a series of abstract images captured underwater, revealing texture, shape, form and drama. This contemporary series exists as a result of situation and experimentation and endeavours to capture the unusual.
“My motivation when I capture an image is to create an artwork that is beautiful to the viewer’s eye. Images are planned and studio light is carefully considered. Photography is my outlet and through each photographic experience I receive, grow and learn.”
Rebecca Claire Edwards graduated with a Bachelor of Photography from James Cook University in 2005. Rebecca lectures photography at James Cook University, is a freelance photographer and artist, and was a mentee in the 2010 Starburst Regional Mentoring Program managed by Youth Arts Queensland. Rebecca continues to exhibit her digital art in numerous group exhibitions throughout Far North Queensland.
