Carly Whouley was born and bred in Cairns, and obtained a Bachelor of Film and Television Production from Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art in 2002.
“Our landscape is grand and beautiful and saturated with enough textbook aesthetics to make any fanny pack-wearing tourist wee their cargo pants. Alas, so much goes unnoticed - the diminutive, modest, concealed quarters that form the underscore to this magnificently large-scale production. This is the Cairns that my grandparents, parents, siblings, friends and I know so well.”
OPENING NIGHT FRI 11 March 2011 5.30pm - 8.30pm
Please join us at Cell Art Space, 109 Lake St at 5.30pm sharp to officially launch The Underscore. From 6pm - 8.30pm meet the artist and enjoy food and drinks at Twelve Bar Café, Cnr Lake & Shields St.
The Underscore is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, the major day of global recognition for the economic, political and social achievements of women.
The Underscore is supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
Always wanted to try yoga but think you're not flexible enough?
or just not sure where to start?...
...then Soul Train Yoga's Absolute Beginners Yoga Course is just for you! Over 5 weeks Soul Train Yoga will gently introduce you to yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation. Gain an understanding of the benefits of yoga for the mind, body and soul. Find out about different styles of yoga. Begin to experience the results of a regular yoga practice and find out how to integrate yoga into your daily life. Course notes are provided each week.
There are toilets at the class locations for your use before, during and after the class. All yoga mats are provided and course notes are emailed to you each week. All you need is to wear clothing you can move easily in, preferably clothing where you can see your wrist, ankle and knee joints as this helps with your alignment. Bring a water bottle. We practice yoga in bare feet, so no special footwear is required. Once you have graduated from the Beginners Yoga Course then you can sign up for Yoga Boot Camp!
Just so you know, we have an open door policy so that anyone running late is welcome to join us when they get there. We think it's better to get a bit of a yoga class than none at all. There are always mats left out at the back of the class so anyone running late can just slip in.

Yoga Boot Camp!!?? A Contradiction??
What's it all about?
Ok, well the Boot Camp part just refers to committing to a yoga intensive over one month, practising at sunrise, so other than the early morning time of 6:15am there's no real harshness to it! No whistles, no running and no yelling, just a strong invigorating class!
Start your day with clarity, focus, determination and a deep sense of peace!
Yoga Boot Camp run by Soul Train Yoga will help you develop a strong regular yoga practice. Held throughout the wet season as indoor intensives at The Tanks, then from April to November sessions are held outdoors in the spectacular Botanic Gardens. Yoga Boot Camps are run as 8 class intensives giving you an opportunity to see the results that consistent effort can bring. Classes are suitable for beginners to advanced.
Next Intensive:
YOGA BOOT CAMP - Sunrise Session at The Tanks
