Speed dating is the number 1 way singles in Cairns are meeting other singles..
With a Cairns Social Events Speed Dating event, you will meet 10 single guys or girls in your preferred age group. When you arrive, you will be greeted and given your date card for the evening. Once all the guests have arrived, the girls will be allocated an area where each boy will come around and spend 8 minutes chatting with you. This will give you enough time to decide if you would like to see them again. The following day you are sent the contact details of the people that liked you as well and you take it from there.
With speed dating there is no pressure and no expectations. We will do all the hard work. All you have to do is sit back and have a great time!
To make this night even more of a success, we are delighted in hosting this event at Lilo Bar. Lilo Bar is situated on the terraced rooftop of Rydges Plaza overlooking Grafton Street. Integrating five indoor and outdoor lounging domains and taking inspiration from the cool vibe of Miami, Lilo has become the city’s hippest ‘retreat from the street’. Lilo Bar has a private and sophisticated feel to it where guests can sit back for the night and enjoy the surroundings without the hustle and bustle of the noisy street below.
Lilo Bar gives you an intimate and comfortable environment while you are meeting others….

In this modern age medical science has all but eradicated virulent pathogens such as smallpox and tuberculosis. While these diseases have been delegated to a chapter in history we are presented with a new set of health challenges as asthma, hayfever, sinusitis, eczema and variants of swine and bird flu become household names. High density living, increased exposure to toxins, a heavily refined diet and improved sanitisation have changed the way our immune system works. Over the past fifty years the prevalence of allergies has increased to epidemic proportions, with between twenty and thirty per cent of Western populations suffering from one or more allergy symptoms.
Nutrition plays an enormous role in the development and treatment of allergies. Specific deficiencies are just as likely to result in allergies as excesses of inflammatory or trigger foods. Just as some foods will aggravate an allergy others are known to relieve them. Dietary changes that result in even a slight change of body acidity can prevent the activation of the inflammatory cascade that results in allergic symptoms. Many people with digestive upsets or other illness are unaware that they even have allergies, putting the symptoms down to other disease states.
The power that we have as individuals to regulate our immune response to allergies is generally disregarded and yet it can significantly improve the overall health and quality of life for anyone with known, or unknown allergies.
In a jam packed afternoon, Brooke White BHSc (Comp.Medicine), Dip.Nut, Dip.Sp.Th, Dip.R.M will share vital information for those who suffer with allergies and how to relieve them.
Returning to Australia in 2011....Imperial Russian Ballet Company’s “Festival of Russian Ballet”.
The Festival of Russian Ballet features a diverse and stunning programme in three awe-inspiring acts.
Act One – Don Quixote
Don Quixote was first performed in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1869. Since then it has been performed all over the world by Russian and International companies.
Former Bolshoi soloist and head of the Imperial Russian Ballet Company, Gediminas Taranda, has taken the four acts of the original ballet with its gradual evolution and transformed it into one impetuous act.
Act Two – Bolero
Bolero is a striking and dramatic ballet. Ravel was inspired to create this masterpiece after visiting a large industrial factory. There he noticed the slow regular movement of the assembly lines and the crash of machine and materials. Bolero is regarded as one of the world’s music masterpieces.
Act Three – Highlights from the world’s great ballets including Giselle, Carmen, The Dying Swan and Le Corsaire. Also in Act Three, Gopak and Ne Me Quittes Pas, Can Can Surprise
The Imperial Russian Ballet Company have performed this three-hour ballet extravaganza all around the world, thrilling audiences and impressing critics. Richard Mays writing in The Evening Standard wrote:
Ballet virtuosity stuns audience
AN ASTOUNDING and exhilarating three-hour programme brought most ballet fans to their feet last night.
Perhaps the few who remained seated were simply stunned by excess, as this touring ballet treasure trove heaped pleasure upon delight, capping virtuosity with even more outstanding steps, leaps and turns.
