Verdi’s magnificent music will take your heart, and probably break it too.
Money makes the world go round. This is the bleak truth behind Violetta Valery's life of champagne, silk dresses and
extravagant parties. No matter how she feels inside, when the music plays and the admirer pays, she must perform.
So when she finds herself falling in love, her very livelihood is threatened. Can the beautiful songbird escape her gilded
cage? Can she leave her past behind?
La Traviata epitomises all that the world loves about Italian opera. It's an enthralling story, full of fascinating characters
who sing devastatingly romantic music. This new production, directed by Rachel McDonald, promises to bring Verdi's
unforgettable music to the stage with an elegant new look at opera's favourite working girl. La Traviata is sung in
English and performed with a chamber orchestra.

Passion and ferocity are fundamental to Cuban dancers. They don’t just dance with the music they dance inside it and this is uniquely Cuban. This dynamism in Cuban dance inspired Producer Mark Brady and Jon Lee to create an exciting new dance event straight out of Havana and bring it to the world.
This is a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s most talented classical and contemporary dancers from the elite companies in Cuba perform way beyond their normal repertoires. Throughout the show, the performers demonstrate their phenomenal versatility, combining styles as diverse as classical ballet and hip hop. Ballet Revolución is a powerful blend of styles and genres set against a blend of sounds meshed with Cuban classics, modern Latin American and R&B hits by artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Santana, Ricky Martin, Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce and many more.
It’s an Evolution of Ballet as much as a Revolution.
Ballet Revolución's choreography is a force of nature combining the styles of three choreographers to create an entire new work. In a time of dance where apathy is the flavour of the day, Ballet Revolución’s choreography is unapologetic in its visceral assault on the audience. Ballet Revolución will shake Cuban dance to its African, Spanish and Russian core.
The dancers are musically soulful. Reeking of sensuality, which is a result of their African, Spanish and indigenous ancestry mixed with supreme technique due to years of Russian involvement in Cuba. These entire elements combine to make an explosive full-blooded engaging night at the Theatre.
Ballet Revolución is Ballet with attitude.

Returning to Australia in 2011....Imperial Russian Ballet Company’s “Festival of Russian Ballet”.
The Festival of Russian Ballet features a diverse and stunning programme in three awe-inspiring acts.
Act One – Don Quixote
Don Quixote was first performed in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1869. Since then it has been performed all over the world by Russian and International companies.
Former Bolshoi soloist and head of the Imperial Russian Ballet Company, Gediminas Taranda, has taken the four acts of the original ballet with its gradual evolution and transformed it into one impetuous act.
Act Two – Bolero
Bolero is a striking and dramatic ballet. Ravel was inspired to create this masterpiece after visiting a large industrial factory. There he noticed the slow regular movement of the assembly lines and the crash of machine and materials. Bolero is regarded as one of the world’s music masterpieces.
Act Three – Highlights from the world’s great ballets including Giselle, Carmen, The Dying Swan and Le Corsaire. Also in Act Three, Gopak and Ne Me Quittes Pas, Can Can Surprise
The Imperial Russian Ballet Company have performed this three-hour ballet extravaganza all around the world, thrilling audiences and impressing critics. Richard Mays writing in The Evening Standard wrote:
Ballet virtuosity stuns audience
AN ASTOUNDING and exhilarating three-hour programme brought most ballet fans to their feet last night.
Perhaps the few who remained seated were simply stunned by excess, as this touring ballet treasure trove heaped pleasure upon delight, capping virtuosity with even more outstanding steps, leaps and turns.
