Cairns Events Let's Do This

Note Sunday April 14 in your diaries - the date of the Friends of the Botanic Gardens pre-Easter plant sale held in the staff amenities area behind Friends House.

It begins at 8am and finishes at noon. Prices start at $8. 

On offer are shrubs, understorey plants, creepers, ground covers, many species of begonias, gingers and a selection of ginger and heliconia rhizomes; the latter include Heliconia indica rubra. 

There is also a good selection of aroids with rare ones such as Tryphonodorum lindleyanum (water banana) and Cyrtosperma johnsonii. Along with all these are Aristolochia acuminate (food plant of the Cairns Birdwing Butterfly), several species of Hoya, hanging baskets of Aeschynanthus sp and Boesenbergia aurantiaca and many more.

Everything is propagated from plants growing in the Gardens so this is your chance to buy something you have long admired.
