Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Cairns Regional Council are proud to announce, for the first time performing in Cairns, The Royal Ballet staging a very special gala performance at Munro Martin Parklands on Wednesday 12 July.

With an illustrious heritage built on the innovation and extraordinary creativity of dance royalty Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan, The Royal Ballet is truly one of the world’s great ballet companies.

For the first time performing in Cairns the company will stage a very special Gala Performance in Cairns’ Munro Martin Parklands on Wednesday 12 July*.

Featuring an ensemble of dancers from the company, the Gala Performance will feature beautiful solos and duos from the company’s broad repertoire including Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote and Romeo and Juliet

This performance follows The Royal Ballet’s International Series season at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane from 29 June until 9 July.

We All Dance
Artists from The Royal Ballet collaborate with community groups and teaching artists from across Queensland to
celebrate dance and movement through a series of workshops and culminating community performances.

NAISDA Dance College 
With ‘Sand to Stage’, NAISDA (National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association) Dance College reflects on the past, pays tribute to the present, and moves beyond form to reveal a new lexicon of Indigenous creativity that challenges our current social and political image of what it means to be an Indigenous Australian.

Gates open: 4pm
NAISDA Dance College: 5pm
We All Dance: 5.35pm
The Royal Ballet: 6.30pm

* Note: if adverse weather requires the cancellation of the performance on Wednesday 12 July, the performance will be rescheduled for Thursday 13 July (with revised running times) and all tickets from the Wednesday 12 July performance will remain valid.
