This is a Free Event.
World Cassowary Day was established in 2014 by conservationist Paul Webster and has grown into an annual event that celebrates community involvement in cassowary conservation.
Over recent years the event has drawn international attention to the plight of the southern cassowary and its diminishing habitat in Far North Queensland and 2017 is shaping up to be World Cassowary Day's biggest yet. We’re moving to the foreshore at Cairns on Sunday 24 September – a day when thousands of people could be engaged in cassowary conservation education and practical learning opportunities – September is one of Cairn’s busiest months.
Fogarty Park is a lush parkland lined with trees and a sound shell. There is plenty of parking within walking distance. Toilets are located at the eastern edge of the park.
Easy walking distance to Cairns lagoon and free wifi will be available. Entry to the Lagoon is free. Toilet and shower facilities are located in the amenities block alongside the Lagoon.
