Cairns Events Let's Do This

Celebrate with the local Chinese community and welcome the Year of the Rooster at this fun, free family event.

The Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival is a popular and much anticipated community event that celebrates Tropical North Queensland’s diversity and rich Chinese heritage.

This year's Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival will be held in Grafton Street, Cairns' historic Chinatown. The program includes:

street parade (commences at 6pm)
colourful Lion and Dragon performances
Chinese drumming
interactive art and cultural displays
Chinese food
a huge variety of market stalls and street food
fireworks and firecrackers (at 9pm)
live entertainment and prize draws at The Good Guys Main Stage and Star 102.7 Stage
Children’s activities include Chinese crafts and the opportunity to feed the Lion.

The street parade commences at 6pm and is followed later in the evening by firecrackers with the Chinese Lion performances.
