The area has been voted by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the world’s peak conservation organisation, as the second most irreplaceable natural world heritage area on earth.
In his talk “Wet Tropics World Heritage Area – its origin and global significance” Terry explains how one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests survives on the driest inhabited continent.
The talk also elucidates the Wet Tropics biological connections to South America and Antarctica and how these connections have shaped its living components today as well as explaining how climate change is affecting the area.
The event, to be held in the Gardens visitor centre, starts at 6pm with a light supper.
